End of Year Ceremony – When you close one door, another opens
That divorce was great.”-No one Ever
I think it’s safe to say the same for 2020!
In many ways and for many of us, 2020 has been like an incredibly intense and challenging divorce, or breakup…yes, there were silver linings, and it was also full of painful experiences, disappointments, stress, and much uncertainty.
Can you relate?
And, like you feel after a bad breakup, many of us are looking forward to a fresh start.
But, even though you may feel like you just want to see 2020 in your rearview– forget it and move right on… before you can look to what’s ahead, it’s important to close off this past chapter — energetically. If you don’t, the unresolved pain will linger and could negatively impact your new pursuits.
Always close one door, so you can easily open another…
For example, if you are still hurting because of a big disappointment you experienced this past year, that pain, and subconscious fear of experiencing something like that again, will attract similar experiences to you.
So, in order to achieve what your heart desires, in this new chapter of your life, it’s integral to resolve this one first.
Address this pain.
And let it go…with love.
But, how do you do that?
Here’s a powerful ritual that you can complete to release the disappointments and negative feelings from the past year (or your past relationship), so that you can start this new beginning with a clean slate.
This powerful process, or “Closing ceremony ritual” helps you to:
- Acknowledge the challenges you have faced.
- Appreciate the lessons and insights you have gained.
- Celebrate your growth and proudest moments.
- Energetically release anything that is holding you back.
- Open up your heart and mind to beautiful possibilities that lie ahead of you.
Closing Ceremony Ritual: How to Celebrate and Release 2020
1. Make a date with yourself.
Choose a date and time to be with yourself, to reflect on this past year and put it on your calendar!
2. Make it special.
What can you do to make this time special? Play nice, soothing music in the background? Light a candle? Make yourself cozy!
3. Connect with your heart and soul.
Take a moment to quiet your mind. Breathe deeply and look into your heart. Imagine that you are connecting your mind and body with your soul. Reconnect with that part of you which is all-loving, all-wise, and has a higher perspective about the intended new direction of your life.
Place your hand over your heart, and tell yourself,
“My dear soul. Thank you for being here with me now. Thank you for your guiding light, as I reflect on the ups and downs of this past year.”
4. Have a little chat with your soul.
Ask your soul the following questions and write down whatever answers that may come to you. You can write them on a piece of paper, a journal, or type them in a document on your computer.
There are no wrong answers. Know that whatever answers manifest in a conscious state of awareness are perfect. Trust yourself and trust the process.
(The following questions were inspired by Leonie Dawson’s “Your Shining Life 2017” workbook)
1. What beautiful lessons and insights did I gain during 2020?
2. Even though it was really hard to go through, I know I learned a lot from…
3. I let go of… (patterns, habits, attachments, thoughts/beliefs, things, relationships…)
4. The incredible thing I discovered about myself was…
5. 2020 led me to…
6. I am proud of myself for…
7. What were the areas that felt the most challenging, out of whack, hard to follow or crazy in 2020?
8. What else do I need to rant about in order to release 2020 completely?
9. I am grateful for all these things in 2020…
5. Release all the feelings that surface with gratitude and love
This is the most important step of this process!
This is where the power of your choices and intentions makes itself energetically heard by the universe.
As you think back over the past year and reflect on your answers to the questions above, place your hand over your heart chakra and say,
“I let go & breathe, releasing all that has held me back from my true magnificence.”
“I breathe & give thanks for all that has passed.”
“I am open to all the beautiful possibilities blossoming before me.”
“I am safe. I am loved. I am known. I have 1000 angels cheering me on.”
Now, close your eyes and take in a deep, cleansing breath. Fill your heart with love. As you exhale…let 2020 go…along with the breath. You can wave your hands away from you in a circular motion, as a symbolic way to let the energy go.
I’m so excited for you! Now that you have closed the door on this chapter of your life, you are now ready to start writing a new and improved one! Full of happiness, love and light!
